Hello! My name is Rebecca Hoggard and I am a 40-something year old mother of two teenagers. My ten year personal journey to good health stems from a family history of heart disease, COPD, and diabetes. My mom suffered for over 20 years from the debilitating effects of poor lifestyle choices. By the end of her life, she was no longer able to care for herself at all. Watching her suffer and eventually pass away from preventable illnesses and being unable to help her was the most difficult and painful thing I have ever experienced. During this time, I was in my early 30's and working as a medical biller and coder. I was clinically obese, smoking cigarettes like it was my job, and not taking care of myself... at all. I was miserable!! In February of 2012, my mom had a respiratory failure and ended up in a nursing home. I saw so clearly that if I kept up with my bad habits, I would be in her shoes someday and my children would be forced to helplessly watch me suffer and feel the same heart-wrenching pain.

At that point I made the decision to change my life and save myself. I became obsessed with healthy eating and exercise. I threw my cigarettes out the window. I found a treadmill on Craigslist for $100 and set it up in my garage. I read every book I could get my hands on and hit the treadmill. I started walking a mile every morning before work with my favorite songs blasting in the garage. At first, every step was excruciatingly painful, but I kept going because my WHY was BIG. That year, I lost 50 pounds and went from a size 16 to a size 6. More importantly, though, is the renewed passion for life that I experienced and the realization of my purpose in life.

In 2014, I became a Beachbody coach, and I have acquired a huge library of at-home workouts over the years. I have kept the weight off by exercising every day and choosing to eat healthy foods. I am still working every day to break the cycle of obesity for my family. While some things are easier now, good health is a continuous journey that we have to commit to day after day, correcting course as new obstacles and challenges pop up. Remaining flexible is the most important part of maintaining long-term lifestyle changes. My mom has been and will continue to be the driving force behind my desire to live a healthy lifestyle so that I can be there for my children and their children when they need me, for decades to come.

I want nothing more than to help other women do the same, which is why I went back to college for a second time to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Healthy Lifestyle Coaching through Arizona State University online. In 2019, I became a Certified Personal Trainer in order to work one-on-one with women like me. Overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, setting goals, and crushing them are my specialties!

Now, the fire of a greater purpose has been lit inside of me and I am ready to share my spark with others. I would love to work in private or small group consultation with women, whether online or in person. I am the girl-next-door personal trainer! We can meet in a park or at the grocery store; I invite you to my house for afternoon coffee or I can come to you! Whatever works for you, whatever your goals are, I am here to help….
